ST. PETERSBURG, Florida (Ticker) - Curt Schilling may not be an All-Star, but he could be halfway to his first Cy Young Award.

Snubbed for the All-Star team earlier in the week, Schilling tries to become the first AL pitcher to 11 victories when he takes the mound Tuesday in the second game of a four-game set between the Boston Red Sox and the Tampa Bay Devil Rays.

Chicago White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen passed over Schilling for the All-Star team on Sunday despite the fact that the hard-throwing righthander is 10-2 with a 3.54 ERA. He dominated the New York Mets on Thursday, yielding two runs in seven innings en route to a 4-2 victory.

Schilling's teammate Josh Beckett had a chance for his 11th win on Monday but he was outdueled by Tampa Bay's Scott Kazmir in a 3-0 defeat. Kazmir, who was selected as the Devil Rays' only All-Star representative, struck out 10 in a crisp two-hitter.

The Devil Rays will try to ride the momentum Tuesday behind Casey Fossum (3-3, 5.03), who pitched for the Red Sox from 2001-03. The lefthander went 2-1 with a 3.97 ERA in June, capped by a 3-1 win against Florida on Wednesday in which he allowed one run in five innings.

Boston is 7-4 against Tampa Bay this season and holds a 95-48 advantage in the all-time series.
