SAN DIEGO: CF Mike Cameron (right thumb) took batting practice in the inside cage. "He did some running and has showed improvement," manager Bud Black said. "He is available to pinch-run." ... Black said he would not look past the tiebreaker game with the Rockies. "I like to look at the present," Black said. "I would say I would carry 10 or 11 pitchers and not 12 for the next game." ... Black said momentum carried little weight in postseason play. "Momentum is relative to your starting pitching," Black said. "Basically, an opposing starting pitcher has the ability to shut down momentum." ... Black chose Josh Bard to catch over Michael Barrett since he's more familiar with RHP Jake Peavy. "Josh caught Jake this year," Black said. "I didn't want to break them up."
COLORADO: Manager Clint Hurdle said he took in too much caffeine during the day leading up to the game. "It's a special day, and just the fact that we've got a shot. It's a one-game shot," Hurdle said. "You win today you go to the playoffs and there's an urgency that's special." ... There had not been a game played at Coors Field in the month of October since Oct. 3, 1999, when the Rockies beat the San Francisco Giants 9-8 on the final day of the season. "I have not been in a playoff game since 1981," said Hurdle, who was a member of the Kansas City Royals that year. ... Coach George Karl and the entire Denver Nuggets team attended the game.
