The Chicago Cubs and Philadelphia Phillies are scuffling, but the Cubs have experienced some success on the road recently.

Chicago will seek a season-high fourth straight win away from home Tuesday night, and Edwin Jackson will try to help with another strong outing.

The Cubs (49-62) have lost seven of eight and were held scoreless in their final 23 innings of a four-game set against the Los Angeles Dodgers over the weekend. They limited the Dodgers to two hits Sunday in a 1-0 loss.

Chicago totaled 19 runs during its eight-game homestand and went 5 for 27 (.185) with runners in scoring position during the sweep to the Dodgers.

"We got shut out three times in (these) games at home, scored two in another (two)," manager Dale Sveum said. "It's very difficult to win, obviously, unless you're scoring runs."

Sveum's club, however, has won 12 of 19 on the road and registered a three-game sweep of San Francisco from July 26-28 to end its most recent trip. The Cubs' next road opponent has dropped 13 of 14 overall and five straight at home.

Philadelphia (50-61) has been outscored 81-33 in its last 14 games, batting .198 and posting a 5.13 ERA. The Phillies were booed by their home fans while producing four hits in a 4-1 loss to Atlanta on Sunday night.

"We're getting outplayed all the way around," pitcher Cliff Lee said. "We've got to have more pride, more fire and play better fundamental baseball. Period. If we do that, we'll turn it around."

Jackson (7-11, 4.65 ERA) will try to add to the Phillies' woes by improving on his 4-1 record and 2.23 ERA in his last six starts. The right-hander gave up one run over a season-high eight innings in Wednesday's 6-1 victory over Milwaukee.

Jackson lost his first four starts against Philadelphia before giving up one run over 6 2/3 innings in his most recent matchup, a 5-1 victory for Washington on Oct. 3. He has a 3.55 ERA in his last four meetings with the Phillies.

Jackson will pitch opposite a struggling Kyle Kendrick (9-8, 4.29), who has a 10.13 ERA in losing his last two outings. The right-hander didn't make it out of the third inning in a 9-2 loss to San Francisco on Wednesday, giving up seven runs and eight hits.

Kendrick is 0-1 in three starts against the Cubs despite a 1.80 ERA. He gave up two runs and three hits over six innings in his most recent matchup, a 9-2 win at Wrigley Field on May 16, 2012.

Kendrick will try to hand Chicago a third straight shutout for the first time since a string of four in a row April 27-May 1, 1992. The Cubs had a 28-inning scoreless streak July 20-23, 2012.

The Phillies' home skid is their longest since dropping seven straight June 27-July 21, 2012.

Darin Ruf will try to help end that by reaching base for a 33rd consecutive game. That streak is the longest by a Phillie since Chase Utley's 33-game run Sept. 7, 2008-April 22, 2009.

Ruf has struck out and walked in his two plate appearances against Jackson, while Carlos Ruiz is 6 for 9 with three doubles and Jimmy Rollins is 4 for 6 with two homers.

Philadelphia reliever Antonio Bastardo is among 12 players set to serve 50-game suspensions from the Biogenesis drug investigation. Bastardo's 2.32 ERA was the best among Phillies with at least 11 appearances.
