TORONTO (AP) -- The Boston Red Sox didn't need Manny Ramirez to sweep the spiraling Toronto Blue Jays.

Brian Daubach, filling in for the injured slugger, hit a go-ahead three-run homer in the seventh inning as the Red Sox beat Blue Jays 7-4 Wednesday for their third straight win at SkyDome.

``I'm doing the best I can until Manny gets back,'' said Daubach, who batted in the cleanup spot.

Lou Merloni hit a tying homer in the seventh for the Red Sox, who are 20-4 on the road, the best start away from home in the majors since Detroit had the same mark in 1984.

``I hope somebody gives us some credit some time,'' Daubach said. ``Maybe they'll keep saying we haven't played anybody yet. We got to play interleague I guess. Things are going good. We've gotten off to a great start and we've continued it in May.''

Raul Mondesi and Vernon Wells homered for the Blue Jays, who have lost six straight and eight of nine to fall to 16 games below .500 (17-33) for the first time since Sept. 23, 1996.

The Blue Jays matched their worst homestand by going 0-6 for the fifth time.

``It's difficult to find bright spots when you've lost six straight at home. We've got to get it turned around,'' Toronto manager Buck Martinez said.

John Burkett improved to 6-0 for the first time since 1993. Burkett allowed four runs on seven hits in 6 2/3 innings, while striking out three and walking two.

Casey Fossum pitched 2 1/3 innings for his first save.

Merloni led off the seventh with a homer off Scott Cassidy (0-1). Cassidy then hit Rickey Henderson with a pitch and walked Johnny Damon before Daubach hit his eighth homer off left-hander Felix Heredia, giving Boston a 7-4 lead. The ball hit off the Hard Rock Cafe in right field.

``I've been waiting for four years now to bat against lefties,'' Daubach said. ``Maybe I'll get more of a chance now.''

Daubach fouled a ball off his right knee in the ninth and stayed in the game.

``That was the worst pain of my life,'' he said. ``I'll be ready to play Friday.''

Boston manager Grady Little said Daubach has done a good job filling in for Ramirez, who has been on the disabled list since May 12 with a broken finger. Boston is 9-6 without him.

``He's picked up a lot of that load that was left there,'' Little said.

Henderson singled in the first and scored on Damon's RBI single off Justin Miller. Nomar Garciaparra followed with an infield single before Miller walked Trot Nixon to load the bases. Miller then walked rookie Bryant Nelson on four pitches, giving Boston a 2-0 lead.

Carlos Delgado became Toronto's franchise leader in RBIs in the third when he hit a run-scoring infield single for the 741st RBI of his career.

``I'm not into records. I want to win,'' Delgado said.

Miller hit Merloni with a pitch in the fifth and issued consecutive walks to Henderson and Damon before Garciaparra hit a sacrifice fly to tie it 3-3.

Mondesi homered in the fifth.
