SAN FRANCISCO (AP) -- Barry Bonds won a showdown with Dodgers closer Eric Gagne, stole his 500th base and scored the winning run in an extra-inning game between first-place teams -- all in a span of about four minutes.

On the night of another huge accomplishment for his son, Bobby Bonds made a surprise appearance in the
Giants' clubhouse on Monday. Bonds, who is undergoing chemotherapy for lung cancer, had an operation last year to remove a cancerous
tumor from his kidney. Barry Bonds has been distressed by his father's health all season, but the elder Bonds -- who played seven of his 14 major league seasons with the Giants -- appeared talkative and happy while sitting next to his son's locker. Barry would end the night by recording his 500th career stolen base and scoring the game-winning run in a 3-2 Giants victory in 11 innings.-- Associated Press
