VIERA, Fla. (AP) -- Sunny Kim pitched six shutout innings and allowed two hits to help the Montreal Expos beat the Detroit Tigers 3-2 Sunday.

Kim has not allowed a run in his last 12 innings, spanning three appearances.

"I would like to thank (pitching coach) Randy St. Claire because he changed my mechanics," Kim said. "After that, my pitches have been much better. I have confidence. It was just little mental things because I lost focus. Before I was aiming. Now I just pitch."

Henry Mateo hit a solo home run in the first inning to break a scoreless tie and was 3-for-4.

Tony Batista returned to action for the first time since March 10 after getting the chicken pox. He was 0-for-2, flying out twice.

"I feel fine. I'm ready to go," Batista said. "I didn't get ground balls, but I just have to wait for a good time. But I feel strong, all the way back."

Tigers starter Jeremy Bonderman struggled with his control, allowing three runs on seven hits with two walks.

Carlos Pena was 1-for-4 with a solo home run for the Tigers.

Rocky Biddle pitched the final two innings for the Expos to earn his first save.

With the Expos leading 1-0 in the sixth, Carl Everett led off with a single off Bonderman. Orlando Cabrera followed with a double deep in the left field corner, but Everett failed to score because he tripped rounding third. Brad Wilkerson walked to load the bases, and Bonderman was removed for Shane Loux.

Andy Fox drove in a run on a grounder and Gregg Zaun followed with a sacrifice fly to give the Expos a 3-0 advantage.

The Tigers put together a two-out rally in the seventh off T.J. Tucker starting with Pena's homer.

Carlos Guillen and Bobby Higginson followed with singles, and Eric Munson knocked in Guillen with a single.

Tucker was pulled for Chad Bentz, who came in to face pinch-hitter Dmitri Young. Young flew out to end the rally.
