SAN FRANCISCO (AP) -- Yorvit Torrealba and Barry Bonds thought they had the day off. Instead, they worked overtime to get the San Francisco Giants another victory.

Torrealba hit a second-inning grand slam, then doubled home Bonds in the 11th inning of the Giants' 9-8 win over the Florida Marlins on Sunday.

Torrealba, the Giants' backup catcher, wasn't in the lineup until moments after batting practice, when A.J. Pierzynski was ruled out with a sore right shoulder. Torrealba responded with three hits, including his first career slam, in San Francisco's third straight victory over Florida.

"I was sad a little bit, because my family just left for Venezuela and didn't get to see it," Torrealba said. "It's tough when you don't play, but I just try to take advantage of whatever I can."

San Francisco scored 27 runs in the wins with no homers from Bonds, who still got the Giants' final rally started as a pinch-hitter. Bonds, who spoke of his fatigue earlier in the week, is nursing a sinus infection that kept him up for much of the night.

He didn't even change into his uniform until the late innings.

"I didn't want to use Barry," manager Felipe Alou said. "I've been there before. You use all your energy by playing, playing, running. ... We had to put him in, but we knew they weren't going to give him much to hit."

In the 11th, Bonds drew a leadoff walk and advanced to second on Brian Dallimore's single off Matt Perisho (2-2). Torrealba drove a double off the wall in left-center, and Bonds jogged home.

Tyler Walker (2-0) got his second victory in three days. He struck out Mike Lowell with two on in the 10th, then pitched a hitless 11th.

Lowell and Luis Castillo drove in two runs apiece for the Marlins, who finished a seven-game road trip with four losses in the last six. The defending World Series champions have lost a season-high three straight despite scoring 20 runs -- though none after the fifth inning Sunday.

"It's real frustrating," Perisho said. "We've been in a lot of tight ballgames and come out ahead in most of them, but not here. We've scored plenty of runs, but haven't been able to hold leads like we need to."

San Francisco is headed out for its first full week on the road since its home opener. The Giants played 17 of their last 20 games at home without leaving California, yet still hovered near the bottom of the NL West.

"We're slowly getting more confident in ourselves, and it's spreading over the team," Torrealba said. "Sometimes it just takes one guy to start hitting, and everybody else follows. Barry has been the only guy who's hitting, but hopefully other guys will start."

San Francisco tied it in the seventh on Pedro Feliz's RBI single and Dustan Mohr's sacrifice fly, but left the bases loaded when pinch-hitter Deivi Cruz grounded out. The sellout crowd chanted "Barry! Barry!" before Cruz appeared from the dugout -- but Bonds wasn't even dressed.

Perisho had a 1-2 count on Bonds, but couldn't put him away.

"We pitched to him! I didn't hear anybody say anything," Florida manager Jack McKeon said. "He swung the bat, fouled a couple off. We pitched to him."

Both starting pitchers struggled. Kirk Rueter extended the longest season-opening winless skid of his career to six games, allowing eight hits and six earned runs before getting chased in the fifth. But Darren Oliver was no better, allowing six hits and five earned runs in four innings.

Lowell hit a two-run single in the third, and the Marlins tied it on Castillo's two-run double in the fourth. Damion Easley and Juan Pierre tripled in the fifth during Florida's three-run rally.

Game notes
LF Jeff Conine returned to Florida's lineup after missing three games with stiffness in his lower back. Conine went 0-for-4 with two walks. ... Mohr snapped his season-opening 1-for-24 slump with a ground-rule double in the fourth. ... Dallimore, the 30-year-old rookie whose first major league hit was a grand slam Friday, had two hits. He also drove in his sixth run in three days with a second-inning grounder. He's hitting .429 in his first week in the majors.
