Rain ends game in top of sixth

CHICAGO (Ticker) -- The game only lasted 5 1/2 innings, but it was long enough for Greg Maddux to gain revenge and his 296th win.

Maddux allowed two runs in 5 1/3 innings and Rey Ordonez belted a two-run homer as the Chicago Cubs beat the Chicago White Sox, 4-2, in a rain-shortened contest.

Last Sunday, Maddux gave up a season-high nine runs and 11 hits in four innings to the White Sox. The four-time Cy Young Award winner bounced back Saturday, limiting the Cubs' "Windy City" rivals to five hits and one walk while striking out three.

Mike Wuertz got the final two outs in the top of the sixth inning for what turned out to be his first major league save when the game was called.

Todd Walker led off the first with a triple and Ordonez smacked a pitch from White Sox rookie Felix Diaz (1-2) over the left-center field wall for his first homer of the season. One out later, Moises Alou added his 19th home run for a 3-0 lead.

Sammy Sosa contributed his 14th home run - a solo shot - in the fifth, before the contest was delayed by rain for a fourth and final time. The Cubs have won three in a row overall and six of their last seven at home.

Diaz gave up three runs and six hits in four innings to take the loss. He struck out six and walked one.
