ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) -- Hank Blalock homered twice, Kenny Rogers earned his 15th win and the Texas Rangers extended their winning streak to six games with a 5-2 victory over the Cleveland Indians on Wednesday night.
Blalock went 3-for-4 with a solo homer in the fourth and a two-run shot in the sixth, breaking out of a 10-for-64 slide spanning his previous 19 games. Ron Mahay, Carlos Almanzar and Cordero combined for three innings of scoreless relief, keeping Texas just a half-game behind first-place Oakland in the AL West.David Dellucci hit a two-run homer in the first to spark the offense and the Rangers completed a three-game sweep of the Indians, who dropped their fourth in a row and fell 4½ games behind first-place Minnesota in the AL Central.Mark Teixeira, who became the second Rangers player to hit for the cycle Tuesday night, arrived at the ballpark with an upset stomach and went 1-for-4 with a double.Indians starter Scott Elarton (2-3) allowed three homers and left in the sixth trailing 5-2. Elarton gave up five runs and eight hits in 5 1-3 innings.
