MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -- For Alex Rodriguez and the New York Yankees, Minnesota proved to be little more than a speed bump, barely slowing them down in their race to meet the Red Sox.
A big home run by Ruben Sierra and a timely 11th-inning hit by Rodriguez helped the Yankees beat the Twins 6-5 on Saturday to win the first-round playoff series in four games -- and a date with Boston for the AL pennant.| Game 4 Breakdown |

HeroRuben Sierra. His three-run homer in the top of the eighth inning tied the game, and gave the Yankees renewed life. Alex Rodriguez deserves mention as well for stealing third base after hitting a one-out double in the 11th. He then scored the winning run on a wild pitch.

Game notes
Hunter made it look like he lost Rodriguez's third-inning flyball in the Metrodome ceiling before easily catching it in medium center field -- forcing Jeter back to first. Both Hunter and Jeter flashed big grins as they retreated. In the fourth, Sheffield searched for Justin Morneau's fly ball and made the same arms-out, palms-up motion Hunter did -- only this was no decoy. Miguel Cairo spotted the ball sailing over Sheffield's head and ran all the way from second base to pick it up as Hunter scored to put the Twins up 2-1.
