KISSIMMEE, Fla. (AP) -- Alfonso Soriano hit a three-run homer to lead the Washington Nationals to a 4-2 win over the Atlanta Braves on Friday night.

Soriano, who initially refused to play the outfield, made his third straight start in left field but had no putouts. He only handled one ball: Ryan Langerhans' double to left in the third inning.

Soriano homered in the fifth inning against Braves starter Tim Hudson, who allowed five hits and four runs in six innings.

Hudson, scheduled to start opening day for Atlanta, struck out six and walked two.

"I'm happy where I am right now," he said. "I'll be ready for opening day. I'm just here to get in shape and get my delivery down."

Veteran left-hander Mike Remlinger, who signed a minor league contract with the Braves during the winter, allowed a hit in a scoreless inning. Chris Reitsma and Lance Cormier added a shutout inning apiece.

"Everybody in the bullpen is throwing good right now," Braves manager Bobby Cox said. "Remlinger has been unhittable, and Reitsma looks really good."

Gary Majewski, Travis Hughes, and Jason Bergmann each pitched a shutout inning for Washington.
