Los Angeles 15, San Diego 2

PEORIA, Ariz. (AP) -- Garret Anderson led off the second inning
with a home run to help the Los Angeles Angels beat the San Diego
Padres 15-2 on Monday night.

Anderson has been hampered this spring by sprained plantar
fascia tissue in his foot. He went 1-for-2 and played left field in
just his second game since March 7.

Orlando Cabrera, Juan Rivera, Dallas McPherson and Darrell Sales
also homered for the Angels. Sales' shot was a grand slam with no
outs in the ninth inning.

Padres starter Woody Williams allowed six hits and four runs in
four innings. He could start the season in the bullpen because the
Padres plan to go with four starters due to two early off days.

Los Angeles pitcher Kelvim Escobar worked six innings, allowing
four hits and two runs. He struck out six and walked three.

Mark Bellhorn homered and Mike Piazza drove in San Diego's other
run with a groundout in the third.

Bellhorn learned earlier in the day that he lost out to rookie
Josh Barfield in the competition for the starting job at second
base. Bellhorn was hitting .179 going into Monday night's game,
when he started at third. He hit into a double play in the third.
