PHOENIX (AP) -- Eric Byrnes made a big splash with the bat Monday night, and helped send the Los Angeles Dodgers to their fifth straight loss.

Enrique Gonzalez got the win and had three hits for Arizona on Monday night. Only three other pitchers had 3-plus hits and a victory this season: Ryan Madson, Chan Ho Park and Bronson Arroyo. Byrnes hit a three-run homer 418 feet to left-center, sending a fan's beverage flying in the process, in Arizona's five-run sixth inning and the Diamondbacks went on to win 8-3, their sixth victory in seven games.

"The greatest part about it is it went into someone's beer," Byrnes said. "My initial reaction was to send one of the kids in the clubhouse out to buy them a new beer, then I found out it was a Dodgers fan. I told her I'm not going to buy her a beer if she's a Dodgers fan."

Enrique Gonzalez pitched 6 2/3 solid innings and had three singles and two RBI for Arizona.

Johnny Estrada and Shawn Green each had two hits, including a double and an RBI apiece for the Diamondbacks, while Orlando Hudson tripled in a run in the sixth when center fielder Kenny Lofton misjudged his drive and it went over his head.

Dodgers first base coach Mariano Duncan was ejected by third base umpire Angel Hernandez in the first inning. Duncan was tossed when the Dodgers were complaining from the dugout after Hernandez ruled that Diamondback Chad Tracy had checked his swing.

Manager Grady Little came out to vehemently argue the ejection, then went to the dugout and told Duncan he had been tossed. That sent the coach charging across the infield. Second base umpire Randy Marsh kept Duncan away from Hernandez. As he finally left, Duncan threw his hat at the umpire. Hernandez caught it, then walked to the fence and tossed it to a young fan.

"That equipment that he throws to the fan, he's got to try to go out and find a way to bring that cap back or pay for it," Duncan said. "I don't think any equipment that says `L.A. Dodgers' belongs to him."

Duncan said he made a harmless gesture indicating he thought Tracy swung, and wonders how Hernandez saw anything from so far away. Duncan also said Marsh used profanity to try to order him off the field when he rushed out for an explanation.

Gonzalez (3-2) had the first three-hit game by an Arizona pitcher since Curt Schilling went 3-for-4 at San Francisco on Sept. 5, 2002. He had an RBI single in the first, singled in the fourth and drove in another run in the sixth when he was given a single after reliever Joe Beimel failed to cover first on what would have been a routine groundout.

Gonzalez, who retired 10 straight at one stretch, allowed three runs and seven hits. He struck out two, walked one and hit a batter.

"We've shown that when our starter gets us past the sixth and we're still in the game, we win a lot of games that way," Diamondbacks manager Bob Melvin said. "When we don't, we're fighting an uphill battle."

Aaron Sele (6-3), winner of his three previous starts, took the loss, allowing five runs and nine hits in five-plus innings. The Dodgers haven't won since the All-Star break.

"We've got a much better ball club than the results that we're getting right now," Little said. "We need to get it turned around. I feel certain we will, we've just got to keep playing."

With their parents in the stands, Arizona's Stephen Drew and big brother J.D. of the Dodgers faced each other for the first time since they played in their back yard as kids.

Stephen, called up on Saturday to replace injured Craig Counsell, got his first major league hit with a one-out single in the fourth and made two spectacular plays at shortstop -- a diving stop to his left and a play deep in the hole to his right.

"Unbelievable," Melvin said. "He made a couple of tough plays look easy."

J.D. Drew had a sacrifice fly when Los Angeles tied it 2-2 in the third.

The Diamondbacks took the lead for good at 3-2 in the third. Luis Gonzalez doubled, then scored on Estrada's single.

Game notes

With Conor Jackson out with a strained right shoulder, Green started at first base for Arizona. He last played the position, for the Dodgers, on Sept. 28, 2004. ... An MRI on Jackson's shoulder was negative and he could be back in the lineup Tuesday night, manager Bob Melvin said. ... Luis Gonzalez's double was his 524th, moving him ahead of Willie Mays for 32nd on the career list. Next up is Ted Williams with 525. ... The Dodgers' five-game skid matches their longest of the season. ... Estrada extended his hitting streak to a career-best 11 games.
