LOS ANGELES (AP) -- The San Diego Padres pulled out their second straight extra-inning victory after four straight losses. This one came against the fading Los Angeles Dodgers, who haven't had any success in extra-inning games -- or nine-inning ones, for that matter.

Ethier Andre Ethier hit two home runs Monday, joining Matt Kemp and Cody Ross as Dodgers rookies with a multiple-home run game this season. Josh Bard hit a two-out RBI single in the 11th, Mike Cameron hit a three-run homer and the Padres outlasted Los Angeles 7-6 Monday night, the Dodgers' sixth consecutive loss.

"We don't do anything easy," Padres manager Bruce Bochy said. "We play a lot of tight games, and tonight was another one. It's tough when you give up the lead like we did, but they kept battling. The important thing is that these guys are not losing their focus."

Josh Barfield legged out a bloop double to center over the outstretched glove of second baseman Ramon Martinez in the 11th. Bard singled against Giovanni Carrara (0-1).

Doug Brocail (1-0) pitched a scoreless 10th for the win. Trevor Hoffman got three outs for his 27th save in 30 attempts and the 463rd of his career, 15 shy of Lee Smith's major league record.

Andre Ethier was 4-for-5 with two homers and three RBI for the Dodgers, who have lost 11 of 12 to fall 5½ games behind NL West-leading San Diego. They are the only team in the majors that hasn't won an extra-inning game this season (0-6).

"It's disappointing anytime you lose, especially a game like this," Ethier said. "Unfortunately, we had a few bad breaks at the end and they won. But it was a great team game for us tonight. At least we were right there at the end this time instead of being way out of it. This is when teammates really have to pull together and help each other through this stuff."

The Padres took a 6-3 lead in the seventh after Barfield singled with one out and Bard drew a walk while batting for Padres starter Chris Young. Dodgers right-hander Derek Lowe was removed one out later after making his 100th pitch, and Cameron greeted Jonathan Broxton with a drive into the pavilion seats in left-center for his 14th homer.

Lowe left the stadium without talking to reporters, something that is becoming a habit with him.

Padres reliever Scott Linebrink coughed up the lead in the eighth with help from defensive replacement Terrmel Sledge, who couldn't hang onto Russell Martin's two-run double to right after catching up to it on the warning track. Pinch-hitter Ricky Ledee followed with an RBI single, tying it 6-all.

"A lot of it comes down to me making the pitches," Linebrink said. "I had plenty of other opportunities to get out of that inning, but I didn't make the pitches. So I'm going to try and learn from it, but it's not going to be the norm around here. I'm going to have to pick it up and start getting the job done."

Padres first baseman Adrian Gonzalez, named NL player of the week Monday, singled his first time up to extend his hitting streak to 15 games.

Both of Ethier's home runs came against Young, who missed his previous turn because of a stress reaction in his right foot and was fitted for a shoe insert that relieved the pain. The right-hander allowed three runs and four hits over seven innings.

"He felt good with the shoe and everything," Bochy said. "He just happened to make a couple of mistakes and the kid (Ethier) had a big night off him. But Chris settled down and gave us a good effort."

Mike Piazza tied the score 3-all in the sixth with an RBI single against Lowe, who was charged with five runs -- three earned -- and seven hits in 6 2-3 innings.

Ethier, who came in leading all rookies with a .338 batting average, recorded his first multihomer game in the majors. He led off the second with a drive to right-center that tied the score 1-all, then put the Dodgers ahead 3-2 in the third with a rocket to left-center for his eighth home run after a two-out walk to Nomar Garciaparra.

"I'm just staying positive up there at the plate," Ethier said. "I know it's a grind and I know these guys are going to challenge you, but you have to be ready for the challenge."

Brian Giles, starting in right field despite a tender right hamstring, drove in San Diego's first two runs -- both of which were unearned.

Plate umpire Derryl Cousins left after one inning because of knee problems and was replaced by first base ump James Hoye. Tim Timmons moved from 2B to 1B and ejected Bochy in the 11th for yelling from the dugout. "That's the quickest hook I ever had," Bochy said. ... The Padres' victory was their 300th over the Dodgers, against 326 losses. San Diego has won six of the last seven meetings. ... Of Cameron's last 22 hits, 14 have gone for extra bases. ... Ethier has four hits in 17 career at-bats against San Diego pitching -- three of them home runs. ... San Diego optioned INF Justin Leone to Triple-A Portland to make room on the roster for RHP Scott Williamson, who pitched 1 1-3 scoreless innings in his Padres debut following Saturday's trade from the Chicago Cubs.
