MIAMI (AP) -- The Florida Marlins are already playing with a postseason mindset.

Elias Says

Dan Uggla
Uggla
We hope U like this one. Chase Utley and Dan Uggla hit home runs in the Marlins' 4-3 win over the Phillies. It was the first time in major league history that two players whose last name begins with the letter "U" hit home runs in the same game. Unreal.

Cody Ross singled in pinch-runner Eric Reed with one out in the 10th inning to lift the Florida Marlins over the Philadelphia Phillies 4-3 Saturday night.

Dan Uggla homered and drove in three runs for Florida, which moved within 2½ games of the NL wild card-leading San Diego. Hanley Ramirez went 3-for-4 with a walk, stole two bases and scored a run.

"I think this is the playoffs for us because we have to win," Marlins manager Joe Girardi said.

Chase Utley hit two homers for the Phillies, who remained 1½ games behind the Padres.

Pinch-hitter Chris Aguila walked with one out in the 10th for Florida and Reed advanced to second on Arthur Rhodes' wild pitch. Miguel Olivo was intentionally walked and another wild pitch that sailed high over catcher Carlos Ruiz allowed both runners to move up.

Rhodes (0-5) immediately left the game with a strained elbow and was replaced by Brian Sanches. Alfredo Amezaga was intentionally walked before Ross lined Sanches' 1-1 pitch to center.

"It felt good in a crucial game like this," Ross said. "We've lost a couple of tough ones."

Chris Resop (1-0) pitched a scoreless inning to get the win.

Ryan Howard, who homered three times to help Philadelphia win the series' first two games, was 2-for-2 and walked four times. Two of the walks were intentional, both times with first base occupied.

"The way Howard is swinging, it's kind of reminiscent of Barry Bonds," said Florida reliever Joe Borowski, who had his sixth blown save.

"I can just stay in the batter's box -- if they throw to me, they throw to me; if they don't, they don't," Howard said.

Philadelphia left a season-high 17 runners on base, with Pat Burrell stranding nine.

"You know what, we have to knock somebody in -- that's the bottom line," manager Charlie Manuel said.

The Phillies tied it in the ninth. Shane Victorino led off with a walk and Utley flied out. Howard then was walked intentionally to put the tying run on second. Jeff Conine followed with a single to center to tie it at 3.

Philadelphia's Brett Myers gave up three runs and nine hits in six innings. He walked two and struck out five.

The Marlins pushed across an unearned run in the fourth to go ahead 3-2.

With two outs, pinch-hitter Jason Wood singled to left. When Wood stole second, Ruiz's throw went into center field. Wood was prevented from advancing when Utley backed into him. Umpire Rick Reed ruled Utley obstructed Wood and awarded the runner third base.

After Ramirez walked and stole second, Uggla drove in Wood with a base hit.

Florida starter Brian Moehler allowed two runs and six hits in four innings. He walked two and struck out two.

Uggla's two-run homer in the first inning gave the Marlins a 2-1 lead. It was his 23rd of the season.

Utley tied it at 2 when he led off the third with his 28th home run. It was his sixth multihomer game of the season. He also hit a drive into the right-field seats in the first and narrowly missed a third homer with a long foul ball in the seventh.

"I thought it was going to stay fair," Utley said. "It hooked a lot at the last second."

Philadelphia loaded the bases against Renyel Pinto with none out in the fifth but failed to score. Ricky Nolasco entered to strike out pinch-hitter Conine and then retired Burrell and Ruiz.

Game notes
The only rookie second baseman to hit more homers than Uggla was Joe Gordon, who hit 24 for the Yankees in 1938. ... Ramirez stole two bases to increase his season total to 46. ... The announced crowd was 27,444, Florida's fifth-highest of the season. The time of 3:49 made it Florida's longest home game of the season. ... The Marlins stranded 13 runners.
