Great American Ball Park, Cincinnati, Ohio
W: A. Harang (1-0)
L: C. Zambrano (0-1)
|
• Summary: Adam Dunn clubbed two home runs and Aaron Harang pitched seven strong innings as the Reds opened the season in style with a win over the Cubs.
• Turning point: With the Reds leading 3-0, the Cubs loaded the bases in top of the fourth, but Harang got Cesar Izturis to pop out and end the threat.
• Hero: Dunn sent his second home run off the hitters' background in center field at Great American Ball Park, giving the Reds all the momentum. • Figure this: Dunn was 2 for 4 with two runs, two RBIs and a homer in last year's opener against the Cubs and 2 for 4 with two runs, three RBIs and two homers this year. • Quotable: "We are going to get off to a fast start. Just because you lose the first game doesn't mean ... It's just one ballgame." -- Lou Piniella -- ESPN.com news services |
