• Summary: The American League West-leading Angels beat the Kansas City Royals and snagged their ninth win in 11 games.
• Hero: Vladimir Guerrero put the Angels on the board with a two-run double to deep center at the top of the first inning. • Unsung hero: After missing the season's first 25 games with two fractured fingers on his right hand, Chone Figgins doubled home a run to make it 3-1 in the fourth. • Did you see that? John Lackey retired Ross Gload on an unusual play in the fourth. Gload hit a grounder up the middle that would have been a single, but it bounced off Lackey's left foot to first baseman Robb Quinlan, who picked up the ball and made the tag. • Elias Says: It's the third straight season in which the Royals have ended April at least 10 games under .500 (they were 6-18 in 2005 and 5-17 in 2006). -- ESPN.com news services |
