W: B. Kim (2-2)
L: E. Jackson (0-6)
![]() Kim • Unsung hero: Aaron Boone put the Marlins up 4-0 in the second when he hit his second career grand slam on an 0-1 pitch from Edwin Jackson. His other grand slam came when he played for Cincinnati on Aug. 21, 1999, against Montreal. • Goat: Jackson allowed seven runs, seven hits and three walks and struck out two in 2 2/3 innings. His ERA climbed from 6.82 to 7.78. • Figure this: Boone's grand slam was the first for the Marlins since pitcher Dontrelle Willis hit one last July 7 at the Mets. • Quotable: "He did a nice job. Kept them off-balance. Threw a lot of good pitches. He'll get the ball five days from now." -- Marlins manager Fredi Gonzalez, on Kim -- ESPN.com news services |
