TORONTO (AP) -- Frank Thomas and Matt Stairs love to hit, and both are working hard to stay sharp as they approach 40.It's working pretty well this season.Thomas hit his 498th career home run, Stairs matched a career high with four hits and the Toronto Blue Jays beat the Colorado Rockies 11-6 on Saturday.Stairs, 39, went 4-for-5 with a homer and two RBIs and scored twice. It was the third four-hit game of his career and first since June 14, 2000, at Minnesota."I don't know where we'd be without him," Blue Jays manager John Gibbons said.Thomas, who turned 39 on May 27, finished 4-for-4 with four RBIs and a walk."It was a great day to be 39," Stairs said.Thomas said he and Stairs share a passion for hitting."I've played with Matt a long time," Thomas said.
