W: F. Hernandez (5-4)
L: R. Harden (1-2)
|
• Summary: Adrian Beltre hit a three-run home run for his third homer in the last two games and Felix Hernandez had a no-hitter going into the fifth en route to holding the A's scoreless for eight innings.
• Got their number: Seattle improved to 6-2 this season against Oakland and has won 11 of the last 14 meetings between the teams. • Rough start: Oakland's Rich Harden was roughed up by the Mariners. He pitched 2 2/3 innings, allowing four runs on five hits and walked three. He couldn't make it out of the third, leaving with a 4-0 deficit after intentionally walking Beltre. • Quotable: "We can't lose sight that this kid is only 21 years old. He's a kid. He's still getting a feeling for pitching. It's kind of scary thinking about his upside and natural and physical ability. We know he's going to be something special." -- Mariners manager John McLaren on Hernandez -- ESPN.com news services |
