• Summary: Adrian Beltre's bases-loaded walk with two outs in the eighth inning scored Jose Vidro with the go-ahead run, and the Mariners beat the Orioles.
• Turning point: Beltre worked the count to 3-2 against reliever Chad Bradford. He fouled off two pitches, before Bradford missed well outside to force in Vidro, as Seattle took two of three from the Orioles. • On the road again: The Mariners play their next eight on the road before returning home for a key nine-game homestand that includes games with Oakland, the Angels and Boston. • Stepping in: Daniel Cabrera started on three days' rest for Baltimore in place of Erik Bedard, who was scratched with a stiff neck. Cabrera beat Seattle and Washburn in early June, but couldn't repeat his success. He pitched five innings, giving up eight hits and five runs. Quotable: "I really don't like facing guys like that." -- Beltre, who drew the walk off submariner Chad Bradford -- ESPN.com news services |
Mariners 6, Orioles 5
Game notes
