• Summary: Twins pitcher Scott Baker held the Indians scoreless in eight innings of work, allowing four hits and striking out four as Minnesota won its second straight. Alexi Castilla provided the Twins' only offense, with his ground-rule double in the fourth scoring Jason Kubel.
• A good Baker: Baker is 2-0 with a 0.56 ERA in his last two starts and is 4-1 in his last six starts. • Injury scare: Minnesota got a scare in the fifth when CF Torii Hunter came crashing down on his left hand while diving for Ryan Garko's ground-rule double. Manager Ron Gardenhire and a trainer ran to check on Hunter, but the six-time Gold Glove winner stayed in the game. • Figure this: Minnesota recorded its second 1-0 win this season and its first against Cleveland since Sept. 28, 2001. • Quotable: "We smell blood right now. We're ready to go." -- Hunter, on the Twins closing within 4 1/2 games of the AL Central lead. -- ESPN.com news services |

Game notes
Minnesota got a scare in the fifth when Hunter came crashing down on his left hand while diving for Ryan Garko's ground-rule double. Manager Ron Gardenhire and a trainer ran to check on Hunter, but the six-time Gold Glove winner stayed in the game. "It's fine now," Hunter said. "Thirty minutes later I was ready to go." ... Kenny Lofton was caught stealing second to end Cleveland's sixth. Replays showed Lofton appeared to be safe, but second base umpire Dale Scott called him out. ... AL MVP Justin Morneau was 0-for-4 and is in an 0-for-14 slump.
