• Summary: The Diamondbacks led 1-0, 2-1 and 4-2 during the game, but it didn't stop the Dodgers from rallying for the victory. Nomar Garciaparra tied the game 4-4 with a solo homer in the fifth inning as L.A. scored three runs in the inning to claim the lead. Matt Kemp and Andre Ethier also added key RBI hits.
• Unsung hero: The Dodgers' James Loney was 2-for-5 with an RBI, continuing his recent hot streak at the plate. He's batting .500 with 13 RBIs in his last eight games. • On the mend: Diamondbacks 3B Chad Tracy, sidelined since Aug. 15 because of tendinitis in his right knee, impressed manager Bob Melvin during batting practice and could be activated during the next homestand. • Dodger great: The Dodgers honored Hall of Fame manager Tommy Lasorda with a pregame ceremony noting his upcoming 80th birthday, which is Sept. 22. • West isn't best: With the loss, Arizona fell to 30-31 this season against NL West opponents. They're 53-34 against the rest of the majors. • Hunt for October: Arizona's loss trimmed its lead on San Diego in the NL West to 3 1/2 games.
