NEW YORK (AP) -- The Detroit Tigers' awful start is becoming a distant memory.
Placido Polanco homered twice and Marcus Thames also went deep to help Detroit beat New York 6-2 Wednesday night in the Yankees' first game with Alex Rodriguez on the disabled list.Elias Says
Placido Polanco hit his first two home runs of the season on Wednesday at Yankee Stadium. He's the first Tigers player with a multiple-homer game at Yankee Stadium since Cecil Fielder did it on May 9, 1996. Less than three months later the Yankees acquired Fielder from the Tigers at the non-waiver trading deadline in exchange for Ruben Sierra and a minor league pitcher.
