• Jon Lester's no-hitter Monday was the first no-hitter since teammate Clay Buchholz threw one last season. The last team to have two straight no-hitters was the Angels in 1974 and 1975, when Nolan Ryan threw both.
• The Royals were no-hit for only the second time in franchise history. The first time was in 1973 by the Angels' Ryan.
• The Red Sox are tied with the Yankees and Marlins for the most no-hitters since 1993 with four.
• It was only the second time that there has been a no-hitter in consecutive seasons at Fenway Park (1916-1917).

The Royals reinstated C John Buck from the bereavement list and optioned catcher Matt Tupman to Triple-A Omaha. Buck missed the weekend series in Florida to be with his wife, who had complications in her pregnancy. She gave birth to twin sons Cooper and Brody on Thursday, about 12 weeks early; the team said the situation has since stabilized. ... Ramirez high-fived a fan down the left-field line after making a catch. ... Guillen was chosen as the AL player of the week. He went 11-for-24 with two homers and 13 RBIs last week. ... The Red Sox sent down RHP Chris Smith and recalled RHP Justin Masterson from Double-A Portland to start on Tuesday night.
