MIAMI (AP) -- Dan Uggla will be sad to see the calendar flip to June.

Then again, the way things are going for him and the Marlins, it might not matter.

Uggla hit one of four homers by the Marlins on Sunday, and Florida snapped the San Francisco Giants' three-game winning streak with an 8-6 victory in the first game of a doubleheader.

May Masher

Dan Uggla's 12 May homers are the most by any Marlin in any month. He's also moving up the list for most homers in a month by a second baseman.

Home runs in month
By second baseman
Player Month Homers
Jeff Kent August 2002 14
Ryne Sandberg June 1990 14
Joe Gordon July 1940 13
Dan Uggla May 2008 12
Davey Johnson August 1973 12
Bobby Doerr July 1948 12

Uggla became the first Marlins player to hit 12 home runs in May, and has a hit in 17 of 21 games this month.

"I was just looking for something to hit and I put a good swing on it," he said. "I'm just glad it carried out."

Jeremy Hermida and Jorge Cantu hit back-to-back homers and Cody Ross also went deep for the Marlins, who have won four of their last five. Uggla's two-run homer in the fifth off Pat Misch, his 16th of the year, gave Florida a 7-5 lead.

Mark Hendrickson (7-2) survived five shaky innings, giving up five runs and nine hits, to win for the seventh time in his last nine starts for the NL East leaders.

Kevin Gregg worked the ninth for his 10th save in 11 opportunities.

"Hendrickson battled through those five innings and we're glad we got the opportunity to give him the win," Marlins manager Fredi Gonzalez said.

Misch (0-1) remains winless in 25 major league appearances, including nine starts, over the past three years. He gave up seven runs and seven hits, including three of the homers, and was pulled after 4 1-3 innings.

"I really wasn't in control of too many pitches," he said. "It all kind of ballooned on me."

Bengie Molina went 4-for-4 and drove in three runs and Aaron Rowand homered for the Giants. Rowand also drove in a run in the third to finish with three RBIs.

Misch found himself behind 3-0 before he even made it through the first inning. After Hanley Ramirez drew a lead-off walk, Hermida hit a two-run homer to right and Cantu followed with a drive to left. It was the sixth time the Marlins have hit back-to-back home runs this season.

"I got behind on a lot of counts and you just can't do that against a team of good hitters like that," Misch said.

After Molina's two-run double helped give the Giants a 5-3 lead in the third, the Marlins came back in their half. Misch issued a bases-loaded walk to Luis Gonzalez, then was called for a balk, allowing Cantu to score.

"Just too many mistakes," Giants manager Bruce Bochy said. "You walk in a run and you balk in a run, that's huge in a game like this."

Ross homered off Billy Sadler in the seventh.

The game was halted for 29 minutes in the fourth inning due to rain. Both starting pitchers returned after the delay.
