Votto, Bruce lead Reds' home run barrage; Brewers lose 14th September game
CINCINNATI -- A lot of big, bad numbers are slowly crushing the Milwaukee Brewers.
Their mind-boggling September slide kept going Friday night, and time is starting to run out. The Cincinnati Reds piled up seven homers -- two apiece by Joey Votto and Jay Bruce -- in an 11-2 victory that made the Brewers a little more desperate.Fast Facts
• The Reds hit seven home runs, the third time this season they've hit at least seven in one game. They're the first in MLB history with three such games in one season.
• Jay Bruce and Joey Votto became the fifth rookie teammates in divisional play era to hit 20 homers in the same season.
• Milwaukee's Manny Parra is the first relief pitcher this season to allow four homers in a game.
