Rangers Ballpark in Arlington, Arlington, Texas
W: K. Millwood (1-0)
L: C. Lee (0-1)
ARLINGTON, Texas -- Texas Rangers owner Tom Hicks celebrates Opening Day almost like Christmas, complete with a family dinner the night before. This year's festivities included some "pretty optimistic" talk that he joked may only have been partly caused by the wine.
Fast Facts
• The Rangers ended their streak of five consecutive losses on Opening Day, which had been the longest active streak in the majors.
• The Indians opened the season against a team other than the White Sox for the first time since 2004, when they opened against the Twins. They opened against the Rangers for the first time since 1995.
• Cliff Lee lost his first career start on Opening Day. The Cleveland starter fell to 12-3 in his career in the month of April (he went 5-0 in April 2008).
• Kevin Millwood improved to 2-4 in six career Opening Day starts.
