SAN DIEGO -- Hiroki Kuroda and the Los Angeles Dodgers knew they had a good thing going when they scored two runs in the first inning against Jake Peavy.
Kuroda outpitched the Padres' ace, leading the defending NL West champions to a 4-1 victory Monday without a hit from Manny Ramirez.Fast Facts
• James Loney had three hits and drove in two runs to lead Hiroki Kuroda and the Dodgers to the Opening Day victory. Loney drove in two with a single off Jake Peavy in the first inning to give Kuroda all the runs he would need.
• Kuroda held the Padres to one run on four hits over 5 2/3 innings in his first Opening Day start.
• Jake Peavy took the loss, his first in four Opening Day starts. It was also his first loss against the Dodgers in his last 12 decisions against them.
