DETROIT -- Miguel Cabrera heaped pressure on his broad shoulders early last year, trying to live up to his $152 million deal with the Detroit Tigers while adjusting to the AL.
After starting slowly, Cabrera finished strongly and led the league in homers. Now, he's picking up where he left off.Fast Facts
• Miguel Cabrera drove in six runs and hit his first grand slam as a Tiger and second of his career as Detroit won its home opener. Cabrera is 11-for-18 with three homers and 10 RBIs in five games.
• Armando Galarraga struck out eight in seven innings, improving to 3-0 in four career April starts.
• The Rangers allowed more runs Friday (15) than they did in their first three games of the season (14). In his frist appearance since Sept. 27, 2006, Texas starting pitcher Kris Benson allowed 10 hits, eight runs and two home runs in five innings.
