SEATTLE -- Edwin Jackson was feeling run down, dealing with flu-like symptoms that have been taking a toll on his teammates.
As usual, a dose of Seattle Mariners' hitters had the Tigers' right-hander feeling much better.Fast Facts
• The Tigers pitching staff earns its second shutout of the season as Edwin Jackson got his first win with Detroit. The Tigers had just two shutouts all of the 2008 season.
• Jackson went 7 2/3 innings scattering five hits and striking out six batters. Jackson is now 3-0 with a 0.40 ERA in three career starts against the Mariners.
• Fernando Rodney earned his third save of the year and has pitched five scoreless innings this season.
• Erik Bedard gave up one earned run in six innings striking out eight hitters. Bedard lost in April for the first time since 2007.

Seattle 1B Russell Branyan missed the game with a tight back sustained when he slid into home to score in the fifth inning of Friday's game. Branyan is expected to miss Sunday's game as well but return on Tuesday against Tampa Bay. The Mariners are off on Monday. ... Detroit RHP Joel Zumaya threw two scoreless innings and struck out one for Triple-A Toledo on Saturday in his first game of the season. He is on the 15-day DL with a sore pitching shoulder. ... Detroit SS Adam Everett was sick and unavailable. He is expected to return Sunday.
