SAN FRANCISCO -- Although Ryan Zimmerman's 30-game hitting streak ended right before he could carry it home to Washington, he thinks the month-long experience will benefit him for years to come.
Fast Facts
• Nationals starter Shairon Martis improved to 5-0 on the season, making him one of only five pitchers in the expansion era who won their first five decisions for a team that had a record below .300 for other pitchers to that point in the season. The others are Brian Bohanon (1999 Rockies), Rick Mahler (1985 Braves), Jim Kaat (1975 White Sox) and Sam McDowell (1972 Giants).
• Washington's nine-game losing streak vs. San Francisco ended.
• The Giants have been held to three runs or fewer in nine of their last 15 games.
