Maine caps successful month for injury-riddled Mets with win over Marlins
NEW YORK -- The worse the New York Mets feel, the better they seem to play.
John Maine shut down Florida again before becoming the latest Mets player sidelined by sickness or injury, and New York held off the Marlins 3-2 on Sunday to cap a hectic month marked by gritty success.Fast Facts
• The Mets took two of three in series to finish their homestand 5-1 despite being held to three runs or less in four straight games.
• John Maine got his fifth win of his last six decisions but left in the seventh inning with a stomach virus.
• Francisco Rodriguez struck out the side in the ninth for his 14th save in 14 chances.
• Omir Santos had an RBI, giving him eight in his last 10 games. The Mets had four doubles and three singles.
