Pirates rally in ninth, but Wood recovers to help Indians snap 6-game skid
PITTSBURGH -- During another horrid ninth inning by a bullpen that can't be trusted with a lead of any size, manager Eric Wedge probably thought he was watching yet another game get away from the Indians. Maybe his job, too.
Only this time, and the Indians aren't exactly sure how they pulled it off, this late-inning meltdown didn't wind up as a loss.Jhonny Peralta homered and drove in three runs to support rookie David Huff's eight shutout innings and the Indians halted a six-game losing streak, overcoming their latest bullpen collapse to beat the slumping Pirates 5-4 on Tuesday night.Fast Facts
• In his first game since being placed on the DL at the end of May, Grady Sizemore went 2 for 5 and drove in a pair of runs with a third-inning triple.
• David Huff pitched a career-high eight scoreless innings for the win.
• Mark DeRosa went 0 for 3 and had his 17-game hit streak vs. the Pirates snapped.
• The Pirates scored four runs in the bottom of the ninth and had the bases loaded when Adam LaRoche flew out to end the game.
