Rookie Hanson fends off flu, improves to 4-0 as Braves avoid sweep
ATLANTA -- Tommy Hanson was very much aware of who he'd be facing in these two starts.

The Boston Globe reported that Red Sox infielder Mike Lowell returned to Boston to receive an injection in his surgically repaired hip. He will be evaluated 24 hours later. ... Penny grabbed his hand after bouncing a pitch in the first inning, bringing out manager Terry Francona and the trainer. Penny said his thumb popped out of its joint, but he simply snapped it back in, threw a couple of warmup pitches and was OK. ...
