Harden limits Nats as Lee's big night helps Cubs ruin Riggleman's debut
WASHINGTON -- Minimal offense, two errors that led to three unearned runs, a costly pickoff in the eighth inning with the potential tying run at the plate: The dawn of the Jim Riggleman era looked suspiciously like the kind of spotty play that got Manny Acta fired as manager of the Washington Nationals.
Why Rich Harden Won:
• Induced 16 swinging strikes -- his eighth game this season of 15 or more (leads MLB).
• Fastball averaged 94.1 MPH. It was his fastest single-game average of the season.
• Retired 14 of the first 15 batters.
