Phillies shut down Rockies behind Happ's complete game four-hitter
PHILADELPHIA -- When J.A. Happ's 127th pitch of the night caught Troy Tulowitzki for a called strike three, he did more than make another sellout crowd roar in appreciation of a Phillies shutout.
Why J.A. Happ Won
• Effectively used both sides of the plate against right-handed hitters, holding them hitless on either the inner or outer third (0-for-5 on pitches in, 0-for-4 on pitches away).
• Generated a season-high 17 swinging strikes, including 12 against his fastball. Eight of his 10 strikeouts came against his fastball.
• Dominant when ahead in the count, holding the Rockies to a .059 average (1-for-17).
