NEW YORK -- Despite being the preseason favorite to win the rugged AL East, the Boston Red Sox are finding that reaching .500 in May after an 0-6 start feels A-OK.
Kevin Youkilis hit a tying three-run homer, David Ortiz had a go-ahead drive and the Red Sox completed a sweep of a team in turmoil, beating the New York Yankees with a 7-5 victory Sunday night to even up their record for the first time this season.Ortiz Has Yankees' Number

David Ortiz's fifth-inning HR against the Yankees was his 31st as a member of the Red Sox. That's halfway to the Boston record for home runs against the Yanks. Ted Williams had 62.

Research Notes
David Ortiz needs a triple for the cycle...
Last Red Sox cycle: John Valentin, 1996. Only Red Sox one vs Yankees- Patsy Dougherty, 1903 (15-14 loss!).
Ortiz has tripled at least once every year since 2000, and already has one this year.
Kevin Youkilis: 2nd 3-run HR by a Red Sox player in as many games (Adrian Gonzalez hit one Saturday).
The Red Sox entered the weekend with two 3-run HR all season (and no grand slams)
David Ortiz's fifth-inning HR against the Yankees was his 31st as a member of the Red Sox. That's halfway to the Boston record for home runs against the Yanks. Ted Williams had 62.
