OAKLAND, Calif. -- Bartolo Colon believes he's a better pitcher at age 38 after missing an entire season than he was during his harder-throwing, Cy Young award-winning days.
He sure pitched that way against Oakland, throwing a four-hitter for his first shutout in nearly five years as the New York Yankees beat the Athletics for the eighth straight time, 5-0 on Monday.More From ESPNNewYork.com
Bartolo Colon continues to thumb his nose at Father Time, but how long will it last? Wallace Matthews takes a look.

Research Notes
Bartolo Colon throws a road shutout for the Yankees Monday at Oakland. It's his first complete game and first shutout since July 5, 2006. That was his only win of the 2006 season. Colon, who just turned 38 less than a week ago, is the 5th Yankees pitcher in the Divisional Era to throw a road shutout at the age of 38 or older.
