Research Notes
With a bunt single in the first (he was immediately pulled for a pinch runner), Jose Reyes finishes the season the season with 181 hits in 537 at-bats (.3371 average). Entering his final game of the season, Ryan Braun has 187 hits in 559 at-bats (.3345 average). To pass Reyes, Braun must record at least 3 hits in no more than 4 at-bats. A 3-3 evening will put him at .3381 and a 3-4 evening will give Braun a .3375 average. Anything less will leave him short of Reyes' now final average and give the Mets shortstop his first batting title. |
