The Power Of Pence

The way-too-early favorite for World Series MVP? Hunter Pence, who put a charge into a James Shields pitch in the first inning for his first Fall Classic home run.

Blanco Closes out first

Oh so close. Eric Hosmer puts a charge into one, but Gregor Blanco runs it down in right-center field, grabbing the ball with an extended glove. Giants up 3-0 after one.

If the Royals want to get to Madison Bumgarner tonight, their best chance may be right off the bat.Bumgarner posted an ERA of almost six in the first inning during the regular season, allowing an opponent batting average of .320, while serving up eight of his 21 home runs.

Sandoval Comes Through ... Again

Last time Pablo Sandoval played in a World Series Game 1, he hit three home runs. He delivered an RBI double in his first at-bat tonight.

Big Panda comes through again. He hits a one-hopper to the right field fence to score a run. Buster Posey was thrown out at the plate on a relay throw.

Pablo Sandoval is a beast in Game 1 of playoff series, going 11-for-27 (.407), with three HR (all three came in Game 1 of 2012 World Series against the Tigers). And Big Panda is not at-bat with runners on first and third.
