Heard more concern from hitters/staffers than I can ever recall about what they say is the inconsistency of the strike zone this year.

Rockies ready to do it again after win

Jorge De La Rosa threw 6 solid innings despite a cut on his middle finger that had delayed 2 previous starts, Michael McKenry homered and the Rockies beat the Dodgers 6-3 in the first game of a doubleheader.

Reds already on the board

It took just 7 pitches for Cincinnati to put its first run across the plate. Joey Votto doubled to right, bringing home Brandon Phillips, and the Reds lead the Phillies 1-0 in the top of the 1st. Follow live

Hamilton out of lineup tonight

Josh Hamilton tweaked his left hamstring on his game-winning double with two outs in the bottom of the ninth Sunday against the Red Sox. However, Hamilton doesn't think he'll miss much more time.

Soler out of lineup, DL trip possible

Cubs RF Jorge Soler could miss an extended period of time because of an ankle injury, manager Joe Maddon said today. Soler was hurt trying to beat out a grounder Monday. Kris Bryant made his 1st start in LF vs. Miami.

Get Gallo now?

Rangers slugging prospect Joey Gallo will make his big league debut tonight. Tommy Rancel says he is "worth a look in deeper formats if you are short on home runs or RBIs, but make sure your average is strong or are in an OBP league." Gallo's fantasy value (Insider)

Owner: Red Sox 'painful to watch'

John Henry offered support for manager John Farrell and GM Ben Cherington today, and said the postseason is still possible despite a 22-29 start. " ... this is a strong team. They've just played not up to their capabilities."

DFS: Discounts to offset Scherzer

If you're paying up for Nationals ace Max Scherzer in daily fantasy today, Cynthia Frelund suggests looking at St. Louis 2B Kolten Wong and 1B Mark Reynolds for your lineup. "Great value from [Reynolds] tonight."

Final: Rockies 6, Dodgers 3

Los Angeles made it interesting in the 9th, but closer John Axford slammed the door on the NL West leaders. Jorge De La Rosa K'd 6 over 6 innings of 3-run ball and Colorado pounded out 12 hits in the home win. Box score

Last-minute DFS lineup advice

There are plenty of reasons to like Rockies OF Charlie Blackmon in daily leagues today (Coors Field, chief among them). But don't forget Royals 1B Eric Hosmer. Today's X-factors (Insider)

OTD: Lou Gehrig replaces Wally Pipp

On June 2, 1925, Wally Pipp had a headache and popped a couple of Aspirin, so Lou Gehrig stepped in at first -- and "The Iron Horse" would not miss a game for the next 2,128 games. Said Wally Pipp: "I took the two most expensive Aspirin in history."
