The Orioles have reacquired L.J. Hoes, getting the 25-year old outfielder from Houston for cash considerations. The O's drafted the right-handed hitting Hoes in the 3rd round in 2008, then sent him to the Astros in the 2013 deal that brought Bud Norris to Baltimore. In 777 minor league games, Hoes has a .752 OPS., compared to just .617 in 112 big league games.

Mariners GM Jerry Dipoto isn't pausing for the holiday. MLB sources said he's talked to the Marlins about a trade that would bring outfielder Marcell Ozuna to Seattle. Miami is seeking young, controllable starting pitching, and Roenis Elias and Nate Karns both fit that description. Taijuan Walker is almost certainly out of reach, and James Paxton's injury issues would make him a risky bet for Miami.
