Get Me to June

Through April, the Yankees were 13-9 and in first place in the AL East. In May, things have changed. They are 9-13 with an ERA close to 5.

Yankees desperate for a win

The Yankees have lost 6 straight and 10 of their last 11 games. It's the first time they've lost 10 (or more) times in an 11-game span since 1995. Nathan Eovaldi starts today as they host the Royals at 1:05 p.m. ET.

Struggling Danny duffy placed on DL

Duffy, with his 5.87 ERA, was placed on the 15-day DL today with left biceps tendinitis. The Royals recalled LHP Brandon Finnegan to replace Duffy, who had a 2.53 ERA in 25 starts in 2014.

Happy Harper-Bryant Day

Today is the first time that Kris Bryant and Bryce Harper will meet "head-to-head" in the majors -- as if you needed another reason to follow Nats at Cubs today (2:20 p.m. ET).

And now cue the Mets-are-cheap-because-they-don't-insure-contracts crowd -- when it's been industry-wide trend given $2M annual premiums.

DeShields won't lose time to Hamilton

Rangers manager Jeff Banister says a more crowded outfield situation won't cost Delino DeShields (.280 BA, 11 SB) playing time. Banister says that Josh Hamilton and Shin-Soo Choo will see more rest days in the meantime.

Pirates pitchers with unprecedented feat

Francisco Liriano, Gerrit Cole and A.J. Burnett each struck out 10+ hitters in the Pirates’ three-game sweep of the Mets this weekend. It's the only time in modern MLB history (since 1900) that a team’s starting pitchers won three straight in a series while recording double-digit strikeouts in each game.

Mets' Harvey to get extra day of rest

Mets manager Terry Collins: "It looks like he might be going through some of that dead arm stuff that sometimes happens." Harvey's scheduled to pitch again Friday against the Marlins on five days rest. He allowed 7 runs in 4 innings Saturday vs. the Pirates.

The good news is Matt Harvey I'm sure will read about himself being finished and toss eight scoreless against the Marlins on Friday.

Adam Rubin @AdamRubinESPN

"Dead arm," which frequently happens midway through spring training, is when you feel fatigue for a start and essentially hit a wall.

Adam Rubin @AdamRubinESPN

Terry Collins said to the entire beat writer corps that several pitchers, including Matt Harvey, may be getting "dead arm." ...

Adam Rubin @AdamRubinESPN

I'll repeat for the AM crew what I said last night: Matt Harvey is fine. He's starting Friday vs. Marlins. AP picked up an alarmist report.

Royals sit atop MLB Power Rankings

Doug Glanville: "There's no question they are the best team in baseball right now."

Twins have disco parties after home wins

A new tradition in the Twins locker room started by Torii Hunter includes fog and light machines, loud music and dancing. Pitcher Mike Pelfrey said, "It's pretty entertaining. You can imagine us being frustrated when we lose at home and don't get to see that. (via St Paul Pioneer Press)

Bryant: Harper confident but backs it up

Kris Bryant played with and against Bryce Harper as a youth player in Las Vegas. "He knew he was good. And that's a good trait to have in this game. You've got to go out there extremely confident. And he was confident. I think that helped him get to where he is today."
