Cross That Off The Bucket List

He's waited a long time, but now Tim Hudson has his shot. If he were to win tonight, the Giants pitcher would be the third oldest starter (39 years, 102 days) to win his first World Series game.

Giants tough at home in WS

The Giants' six-game World Series home winning streak is tied for sixth-longest in MLB history. The Yankees' 10-game streak over 1996-2001 ranks first.

royals on top early

Kansas City strikes first in San Francisco -- Lorenzo Cain's ground out drives in Alcides Escoba, and the Royals lead 1-0. K.C. scores in the first inning in consecutive World Series games for the first time since Games 3 and 4 in 1980.

And Alcides Escobar goes up there hacking, hitting the first pitch from Tim Hudson to the corner of left-field wall. The last lead-off double of the World Series was Jimmy Rollins in 2008's Game 4.

Tim Hudson on his success

"As you get older, you have to put your ego aside and incorporate things into your game that you wouldn't do when you were 24 or 25. It's about changing speeds and eye levels. I'm definitely a better pitcher now."

Royals outfielder Lorenzo Cain moves from center field to right tonight.

"We've made a couple adjustments," manager Ned Yost said. "We didn't scramble it up. I mean, we did, but it was out of necessity. With this vast outfield, we knew that we had to put our best defense out there."

Tough adjustment for Royals

Over the past eight World Series, 22 games have been played under NL rules (i.e., without the DH) and the American League teams have won just seven of them.

Hudson gets his shot

Tim Hudson's 457 career regular-season starts are the fifth most by a pitcher making his World Series debut. The pitchers ahead of him are: Walter Johnson (1934, 589 starts), Jamie Moyer (2008, 584), Cy Young (1903, 565), and Joe Niekro (1987, 498). (Credit: Elias)

Jake Peavy, Madison Bumgarner and Tim Hudson have formed a section in the Giants clubhouse affectionately called "redneck row." And they're perfectly cool with it
