PHOENIX -- Milwaukee Brewers right-hander Shaun Marcum left his start Thursday afternoon after pitching three innings because of tightness in his right shoulder.

Marcum retired the first six batters he faced and allowed only Alexei Ramirez's single leading off the third. He struck out two.

After the inning, Marcum retreated to the Brewers' right-field clubhouse with a member of the team's medical staff.

Miwaukee acquired Marcum from the Toronto Blue Jays after he went 13-8 with a 3.64 ERA. He's allowed 15 hits in 11 2/3 innings this spring with a 4.63 ERA.

Marcum says if it was the regular season, he would have continued pitching.
