Reds' Boone almost joined brother in Seattle

Aaron Boone, whose father was fired Monday as Reds' manager, asked to be traded Wednesday.

The third baseman met with Reds CEO Carl Lindner and made the demand. Lindner agreed, and the Reds are aggressively trying to move him before the deadline.
The Yankees and Dodgers are the teams most heavily involved after a three-way deal that would have sent Boone to Seattle and Freddy Garcia to Boston fell through.
New York's offer is minor league left-hander Brandon Claussen and more than $3M for Boone and Gabe White. The Dodgers are offering cash and minor league prospects.
Cincinnati received $1.25 million in the Scott Williamson deal.
