Surprised to hear Jrue Holiday is out. After Game 1, I asked if he could start. "I feel healthy enough to do whatever coach needs me to do."

The United Center crowd is usually dead on most nights, but I've got to give them credit -- the last couple nights they have been loud.

Both the Bucks (30) and the Bulls (32) scored more points in the third quarter than they combined for in the first quarter (27)

Bulls lead Bucks by 3 after 3rd

Derrick Rose finally got in the scoring column in the third quarter, tallying 12 points in the frame. He also has 6 boards and 7 assists, and Chicago leads 71-68. Milwaukee's Khris Middleton leads all scorers with 20 points. Follow live

Everybody always harps on Derrick's 3 point shooting. Worth noting that Jimmy is 0/6 from beyond the arc tonight as well.

Bulls, Bucks locked in tight battle

Derrick Rose is starting to find some touch in the second half and has scored seven points in the third quarter. Chicago can't pull away though and the Bulls hold a one-possession lead over the Bucks with less than six minutes to go in the third. Follow live

And now Tyreke Evans is out warming up. Both Evans and Holidays clearly trying to give themselves every chance of playing in this Game 2

Nick Friedell @NickFriedell

The Bulls can afford 1-for-10 nights from Rose against the Bucks. They can't do that against the Cavs. Rose must shake off rust fast.

Nick Friedell @NickFriedell

Rose knocks down a triple. First FG of the game. He's got to feel like a weight has been lifted off his back.

Jrue Holiday on the floor now going through his pre-game test to determine if Pelicans will have him active for tonight's Game 2 in Oakland

Bradford Doolittle @bbdoolittle

Rose and Gasol have combined for four points on 2 for 12 shooting, but Chicago leads. Not a great sign for the Bucks, who shot 33% in 1H.

Rose doing damage with passes

Derrick Rose (0-7 FG) didn't hit a shot in the first half, but the Bulls' PG dished six assists -- tied for his most in a half this season. Rose's teammates are shooting 6-of-8 for 15 points off his passes.

Halftime: Bulls 39, Bucks 38

Nikola Mirotic scored the final seven points of the half for Chicago to give the Bulls a one-point edge following a low-scoring first half. Derrick Rose was 0-of-7 in his 20 minutes of action. Follow live

Bradford Doolittle @bbdoolittle

Rose is 0-7 from field. As soon as that timeout was called, he ran to ref, grabbed the ball and took a shot from the foul line. He missed.

Little rest for Rose as Bulls struggle

Both defenses are making things incredibly difficult for the opposing offenses, so Chicago is leaning heavily on Derrick Rose. Rose played the entire first quarter before resting for just 4 minutes in the second. Now, he's back on the floor for the Bulls. Follow live

Part of what makes players like Butler and Middleton special is their size -- these are really big wings!

Bucks, Bulls show some fight

A physical, defensive tilt was getting chippy in Chicago, and things boiled over early in the second. John Henson ran into Aaron Brooks, Brooks took exception, and O.J. Mayo and Jimmy Butler got to talking before the refs separated both sides. Follow live
