• After making 4 of 9 field goals in the first half against Dallas on Friday, Kobe Bryant was held to just 2 field goals in 10 attempts in the second half. In what's usually one of the stronger points of his game, Kobe just didn't have it from mid-range on Friday. Bryant was just 1-for-7 outside the paint and inside the arc. Kobe missed all five shot attempts when being guarded by Shawn Marion.

Lakers' big man Pau Gasol missed his third straight game with a strained hamstring.
• Gilbert Arenas scored 32 points in the Wizards' win over the Nets. Arenas has scored 84 points this season, the most he has ever scored over the first three games of a season in his NBA career. His previous high was 78 points in 2005-06.
• Andray Blatche came off the bench for the Wizards and scored 30 points and made 15 of 18 shots from the field (.833). Over the previous three NBA seasons only one player scored that many points and had that high a field-goal percentage in a game he did not start: Kevin Martin for the Kings on Jan. 14, 2008 (39 points, 14-for-16 from the field). • Charlotte scored 79 points in their loss to the Cavaliers Saturday night and has now scored only 240 points in three games this season. That's the fewest points for any NBA team in its first three games of a season in six years. • The Knicks have trailed by at least 20 points in all three games this season, all losses. Over the previous 10 seasons only three teams trailed by 20-or-more points in each of their first three games: Memphis in 2002-03, Atlanta in 2004-05 and Sacramento in 2007-08 (first four games).• Trevor Ariza scored 33 points and fellow backcourt mate Aaron Brooks scored 28. It's the first time since March 26, 2002 that both starting guards for the Rockets scored 28-or-more points in a non-overtime game. Cuttino Mobley (28) and Steve Francis (32) did it then.
