Okafor OK'd for pre-draft workouts
Connecticut junior center Emeka Okafor, the likely No. 1 draft pick, was cleared by a Dallas back specialist last Thursday and can go through NBA draft workouts prior to the June 24 draft. Okafor's agent, Jeff Schwartz, and the Connecticut coaching staff all confirmed Tuesday that Okafor was given clearance to go through workouts.
Okafor saw the same specialist in March when he was diagnosed as having a stress fracture in his back. He missed two games in the Big East tournament, but returned to play in the championship game against Pittsburgh.
Okafor led the Huskies to the national title without a problem but Connecticut coaches say he hasn't been working out fully since the end of the season.
